Details:

  • A sponsored walk in support of Peak District Mosaic, organised by Shree Bharatiya Mandal.
  • Start time of walk: 9:30am.
  • Distance: 11km

Meeting/Starting point:

Shree Bharatiya Mandal, 103 Union Road, Ashton Under Lyne, OL6 8JN.

Instructions:

  • Walk start and finish at Shree Bharatiya Mandal (Indian Community Centre) at above address
  • Please arrive at the centre for 9.30am for registration and bring your sponsor form and money
  • All walkers under 16 years of age must be accompanied by an adult
  • Please wear suitable footwear and clothes as per weather
  • Please follow the marshal’s instructions at all times
  • There are 3 check points on the route at Park Bridge Heritage Centre (2) and Alexander Park (1)
  • At all times be aware of other road users, keep to the pavements, walking trails and walk on right side of the road (where there are narrow roads with no footpaths)
  • Please bring your water, we will have picnic vegetarian lunch in Alexandra Park, provided FREE.  
  • If you are unable to continue walking please let the marshal know so we can arrange for you to get back to the centre
  • If you have not collected all monies, the cut-off date for hand over is 13th July. You have a legal responsibly to ensure all donations received are paid to the organising committee
  • There is a prize for the highest collectors of sponsorship money

 

Walk  – 11 KM

  • From SBM turn left and left again at the traffic lights 
  • Carry on straight, on Ladbrooke Road crossing Henrietta Street
  • Join Cranbourne Road at the Scout hut turn right and join old railway track heading towards Park Bridge
  • Carry straight on crossing Alt Hill Lane till you come to next stile at this point turn left go towards Park Bridge (Refreshments and Check point 1
  • After short rest, we turn left towards Dean Terraces
  • At the end of Dean Terraces go through stile towards Oldham
  • Carry on walking till you come to Alexandra car park (Picnic and Check point 2
  • At the benches we can have picnic, use of toilet facilities at the café and relax and socialise
  • Return journey we follow the same route back 
  • At Park Bridge Heritage Centre (Refreshments and Check point 3
  • Turn right onto old railway track
  • Follow the path till the path ends at the top of Turner Lane
  • Here turn left towards Henrietta Street and then onto Ladbrooke Road and back to SBM

Equipment:

Please ensure you dress appropriately/take the necessary equipment with you for the group walk: 

  • wear comfortable walking shoes/boots (do not wear trainers)
  • cool/warm clothing depending on the weather 
  • waterproof coat/jacket
  • bring sun cream if necessary
  • bring a packed lunch/snacks and water
  • Your ICE card
    NOTE: You can download and fill in an ICE card if you do not already have one. It is important to bring it with you.
