Grindleford to Calver walk, 5 miles, 11am Thursday 9th July 2026

Walk from Grindleford to Calver along Derwent Heritage Trail of no more than 5 miles (2.5 hours)

This day is a continuation of the groups walk along the Derwent Heritage Trail. This time from Grindleford to Calver.

The walk is on good footpaths along side the river Derwent , with no hills to climb.

The walk leaders will meet the group outside the church and there will be time for lunch along the walk and possible time to call in the café at Calver before catching thebus , from Calver back to Sheffield.

St Helen’s Church, 1 Main Road, Grindleford, S32 2JN

Access Information:

Outward travel – Bus or train from Sheffield:
Bus – no.65 from Sheffield Interchange depart at 9:35am arrive Grindleford at 10:10

Train 10:14 from Sheffield arrive Grindleford 10:28

Return travel

Bus from Calver – no. 65, depart Calver 14:11 arrive Sheffield interchange 14:51

Equipment:

Please ensure you dress appropriately/take the necessary equipment with you for the group walk: 

  • wear comfortable walking shoes/boots (do not wear trainers)
  • cool/warm clothing depending on the weather 
  • waterproof coat/jacket
  • bring sun cream if necessary
  • bring a packed lunch/snacks and water
  • Your ICE card
    NOTE: You can download and fill in an ICE card if you do not already have one. It is important to bring it with you.

We can not share walk leaders phone numbers with participants. We will communicate the cancellations to them if we are aware before the start of the activity.
