Cultural Heritage Walk from Brunts Barn, Grindleford – 5th September

This month, we have teamed up with experts in cultural heritage from the Peak District National Park’s ‘People of the Peak’ project, to plan a fascinating 6-mile circular walk starting from Brunts Barn in Grindleford, which will allow you to learn all about a number of cultural heritage locations in the area. You will also have the opportunity to learn more about the cultural heritage of the Peak District in general, and how you could get involved in helping to protect it.

Brunts Barn, Grindleford, Upper Padley, Hope Valley S32 2JA

Access Information:

Trains to Grindleford Station:

From Sheffield: Train departing from Sheffield 9.14 am, arriving in Grindleford at 9.28 am (then a 8 minute walk to Brunts Barn).

From Manchester: Train departing Manchester Piccadilly 8:48 am, arriving Grindleford 9:50am (then a 8 minute walk to Brunts Barn).

Parking:

There is very limited parking at Brunts Barn itself – and this is reserved for Peak District staff.

There is paid parking at Grindleford Station (8 minute walk from Brunts Barn) and free parking on the main road in Grindleford (B6521) opposite the Maynard pub (15 minute walk from Brunts Barn).

Finish time:

We expect to return to Brunts Barn by 3pm, possibly earlier – depending on how long we pause at each of the the cultural heritage locations along the route.

Return train to Sheffield: Departs Grindleford 15:51, arrives in Sheffield 16:05

Return train to Manchester: Departs Grindleford 15:28, arrives in Manchester 16:32

Equipment:

Please ensure you dress appropriately/take the necessary equipment with you for the group walk:

Snacks and drinks for the day (packed lunch will be provided*)
Plenty of water
Walking shoes/boots and weather appropriate clothing
A ruck sack to keep your hands free
Sun screen and a cap might be needed if sunny
Walking poles if you use them
Your ICE card (In Case of Emergency contact details card) NOTE: You can download and fill in an ICE card if you do not already have one. It is important to bring it with you.

*For your packed lunch, please provide your dietary requirements in the questions when booking your ticket on Eventbrite. It is planned that packed lunch will consist of a sandwich, crisps, fruit and a drink.
