Hathersage to Grindleford – Thursday, June 4

5 mile walk from Hathersage to Grindleford and back along River Derwent

Starting from the centre of Hathersage, we then follow the Derwent Heritage Trail to Grindleford. Where we will stop at the local church for lunch/ tea/coffee and cake. We then walk slightly up hill before reaching Grindleford train station, passing Burnts Barn then walking down hill to pick up the Heritage trail back to Hathersage.

  • Distance: Approximately 5 miles

Meeting/Starting point:

Meet the walk leader next to the public toilets in the main square of Hathersage, opposite Texaco Garage.

Access Information:

Bus: 272 to Hathersage
Depart Sheffield Interchange
Stand: D2

Departure time: 9.45am
Arrival at George Hotel, Hathersage: 10.25am

Bus also stops at the top of the Moor, outside H&M, at the bottom of the Moor, (back entrance to Atkinson) and Ecclesall Road

Parking:

A pay and display carpark is available if you choose to travel by car.

The car park is situated at – Oddfellows Road, Hathersage, Hope Valley S32 1DU.

Return bus:

Departs Hathersage: 1.54pm and 2.51pm

Arrival in Sheffield: 2.35pm and 3.32pm

Equipment:

Please ensure you dress appropriately/take the necessary equipment with you for the group walk: 

  • wear comfortable walking shoes/boots (do not wear trainers)
  • cool/warm clothing depending on the weather 
  • waterproof coat/jacket
  • bring sun cream if necessary
  • bring a packed lunch/snacks and water
  • Your ICE card
    NOTE: You can download and fill in an ICE card if you do not already have one. It is important to bring it with you.

We understand that there are times when we book for an activity and may have to cancel at short notice.

If you register for an activity and you are unable to attend, it is important that you notify us by;

1. cancelling your Eventbrite ticket (we receive notification of your cancellation) OR

2. email us at info@peakdistrictmosaic.org at the earliest convenience.

We can not share walk leaders phone numbers with participants. We will communicate the cancellations to them if we are aware before the start of the activity.
